Services

Built for hard ground.

Six service lines, one standard: controlled, safe, on schedule. If your project starts with rock, one of these is the answer.

Every scope below is delivered the same way — a disciplined drill pattern, careful explosives management, and a controlled shot executed by a crew with decades on the tools. We work design-build with owners, engineers, and contractors across British Columbia and Alberta.

Pipeline

Rock work is often the hardest stretch of a pipeline spread. McCaw's crews handle the drilling and blasting scope end to end — loading explosives, tying in detonators and patterns, and safely executing controlled blasts on right-of-ways, highway crossings, and river crossings across Western Canada.

  • Right-of-way rock excavation
  • Highway and river crossings
  • Explosives loading and detonator tie-in
  • Controlled blast execution and management

Mining

McCaw's provides production drilling and blasting built around responsible mining practices — high-quality results delivered with the highest standards of integrity, safety, and environmental care.

  • Production drilling and blasting
  • Pattern design and blast execution
  • Explosives management on site
  • Environmental care on every program

Quarry

Consistent fragmentation starts with a disciplined pattern. McCaw's drills and shoots quarry benches with the control that keeps crushers fed, walls stable, and operations on schedule.

  • Bench drilling on tight patterns
  • Controlled production blasts
  • Fragmentation tuned to the operation
  • Wall control and highwall safety

Civil Works

McCaw's started on highway projects across Western Canada in 1977, and heavy-civil rock work is still core to the company. We work design-build — collaborating with owners, engineers, and contractors to deliver efficient, cost-effective rock excavation.

  • Highway rock cuts and grade blasting
  • Municipal development rock work
  • Design-build collaboration with engineers
  • Urban and infrastructure-adjacent controlled blasting

Piling

By the late 1980s McCaw's was installing permafrost piling in Yellowknife, and the company has been drilling anchors and piles in hard ground ever since. Overburden anchor drills and a deep equipment bench let us take on piling scopes other outfits pass on.

  • Anchor and piling installation
  • Overburden anchor drilling
  • Permafrost piling experience since the late 1980s
  • Rock and soil anchoring

Reinforcement

Slopes, cuts, and foundations need holding. McCaw's installs rock and soil anchors, slope reinforcement, and grouting programs — backed by specialized slope-work equipment and nearly five decades of ground experience.

  • Rock and soil anchoring
  • Slope reinforcement systems
  • Grouting programs
  • Specialized slope-work equipment
