Our story

From minimal equipment to one of Canada's most trusted.

In 1977, Terry McCaw started the company as a small operation with minimal equipment, tackling highway projects across Western Canada. The work grew the way reputations do in this trade: one safely executed shot at a time.

The company went north to Yellowknife's permafrost, onto pipeline right-of-ways and river crossings, into mines and quarries, and through nearly five decades of civil work. Today, under president Chad McCaw, it's still a family company — committed to rock work delivered with integrity, safety, and environmental care.

    Terry McCaw starts the company

    A small operation with minimal equipment, tackling highway projects across Western Canada.

  2. Late 1980s

    North to Yellowknife

    Permafrost piling and municipal developments in Yellowknife prove the crew can drill in the hardest ground Canada offers.

  3. Onward

    Anchoring expertise

    Overburden anchor drills join the fleet, establishing deep expertise in rock and soil anchoring, piling, and reinforcement.

  4. Today

    Second generation, 50+ drills

    Led by president Chad McCaw, McCaw's runs a fleet of more than fifty drills — from small-hole pluggers to large-diameter rigs — on pipeline, mining, quarry, and civil work across BC and Alberta.
